She's pumped up and proud - and who could blame her - as she carefully unfolds a towel containing four shiny, precious medals Wednesday at the Free Press office. Award-winning Prince George photographer Moira Neal has reached another pinnacle in her career. In May, she recieved her SPA (Service of Photographic Arts.)

"This Award is the most important to me as this national award is given to photographers who have proven their ability and service to the Professional Photographers Association of Canada," said Neal, a member of the Professional Photographers Association of BC since 1988.

The latest accolades did not end there. Eleven days later, she recieved her first Masters Bar of Photographic Art making her the most decorated professional photographer in Northern BC - and the only one with the SPA award (Wally West was the only ohter person in Northern BC to be given the SPA award).

Neal specializes in environmental photography and holds many national accreditations from Professional Photographers of Canada. She's well known for her cutting-edge images, captivating wedding and portrait photography. And she's been rocognized for her ability and willingness to mentor (apprentice) budding photographers and teach them how to enter the professional photographer associations and operate a business in photography.

When she is not behind the camera, Neal contributes to the community, donating her art and talent to non-profit organizations like Theatre North West, Railway and Forestry Museum and Evening in Pink. Over the years she has won many awards for her photography at provincial, national, and international levels.
